How to restore a deleted task in Lanelet

Lanelet · 9 October 2026 · 3 min read

The quick answer

Open the Bin, find the task, and select Restore. Lanelet keeps deleted tickets recoverable for 30 days after deletion. After that window, the task cannot be restored and the daily maintenance job removes it permanently.

What happens when I delete a task?

The card disappears from the active board and receives a deletion timestamp. It keeps its title, description, assignee, column, and due date during the retention window. The bin shows deleted tickets from your current team, including tickets from other boards in that team.

This gives your team a chance to recover from an accidental click or an assistant instruction that did not mean what you intended. The bin is part of the same private team workspace.

How do I restore it?

Open Bin in the sidebar, or use the bin icon on mobile. Select Restore beside the card you want back. The task returns to its original board and column. Switch to that board if you were viewing a different one.

The restore deadline is shown next to the task. It is calculated from the deletion time, not from when you open the bin. Editing a deleted task is blocked until the task has been restored.

What happens after 30 days?

The task stops being readable or restorable at the end of the 30-day window. The scheduled daily maintenance job then deletes it from the live database. If a maintenance run is delayed, restoration is still blocked once the window expires.

The bin is not a backup system. A database backup maintained separately by an operator may have its own retention policy. For the running app, the 30-day deadline is the recovery window.

Can an AI assistant restore a ticket?

Yes. Lanelet’s MCP exposes restore_ticket for a known ticket ID. The same team membership and retention rules apply. list_tickets only lists active cards, so keep the deleted ticket ID if an assistant may need to restore it.

No client tool can permanently delete a ticket before the window ends. Daily maintenance handles permanent removal.
