A little guide
Make yourself
at home.
Everything you need to find your feet. Start small, and take it from there.
Your first little steps
Create an account with your email and a password of at least 10 characters. Confirm your email, then name your team and first board. You’ll land in a fresh board with three columns: To do, In progress, and Done.
- Add a task with the New task button.
- Give it a clear title and a little context.
- Invite your teammates when you’re ready.
A home for your team
Open the members control, or Settings → Access, to invite someone by email. They must confirm and sign in with that same email address to join. Invitation links expire after 7 days. Only a team owner can invite and remove people.
Everyone in a team can see its boards and manage its tickets. Use another team when a different group needs access. The workspace selector changes teams; the board list changes projects within a team.
Create a board with the + button beside Your boards, or beside the board selector on mobile. Create a team from the account area at the bottom of the sidebar, or below the board on mobile.
A little more room to work
Use the tools at the top of your workspace to switch between kanbans, whiteboards, CRM, notes and sheets. All five are available without an upgrade.
Whiteboards
Create a whiteboard and add sticky notes, rectangles, ellipses or text. Select a shape to edit its text, colour and size. Drag to move it, or focus it and use the arrow keys. To connect two shapes, select the first, choose Connect shapes, then select the second. Scroll the canvas or use the zoom controls to explore.
Use board comments to discuss ideas and resolve finished conversations. The shared board timer helps time-box a workshop. Start, pause and reset save immediately for everyone viewing that whiteboard and sync within a few seconds. The countdown continues when you leave or reload. Save a new whiteboard once to enable its timer. Undo and redo apply to changes in the current editing session.
Simple sales
Add a deal with a company, contact, email, value, stage and next follow-up date. Open a deal to move it through Lead, Opportunity, Demo, Proposal, Won or Lost. Use Follow-ups due to see open deals due today or earlier. Pipeline totals keep currencies separate. Follow-up dates are a planning aid; this version does not send CRM reminder emails.
Switch between Deals and Activities at the top of the CRM. Choose Log activity on a deal card or in the header to record a date, time, channel, message and notes. Activities appear newest first and can be edited. Times use your local timezone; the saved timestamp is shared across the team. Deleting a deal keeps its logged activities.
Team owners can use Configure lanes to rename, colour, reorder, add or remove lanes. Mark each lane as open, won or lost; only open lanes count toward the open pipeline and due follow-ups. Removing a lane moves its deals to the first remaining lane. Drag deals between lanes on desktop, or open a deal and change its stage.
Open Events to configure signed webhooks for deal creation, edits, moves, wins, losses, deletion, lane changes and newly logged activities. CRM events use the same retry and signing system as task-board events. Demo event settings stay on this device and do not send requests.
Notes
Create a note from text, heading, bullet and checklist blocks. Change a block’s type, reorder it with the arrows, or tick off a checklist item. Search finds both note titles and their contents.
Sheets
Open Sheets to create a shared budget, list or tracker. Start blank or choose the Budget template on an empty sheet. Click a cell to edit; Enter moves down and Tab moves across. Arrow keys move between cells. Use the formula bar to edit text within the selected cell; it shows the original value or formula. Paste tab-separated rows and columns from another spreadsheet.
Formulas support cell references, ranges, parentheses, +, −, *, /, SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX and COUNT. For example, =SUM(B2:B4) totals a range. Sheets support 1,000 rows and 703 columns (A–AAA), with only visible cells rendered in both directions. Export CSV downloads calculated values from the used area; formatting, charts and Excel file import are not included.
Workspace settings
Open Settings in the navigation to manage your workspace. Owners can rename it in Workspace, invite or remove teammates in Access, and configure event webhooks. Security contains MFA setup; MCP contains assistant tokens and connection instructions. The members control opens Access directly, and Connect your AI opens MCP.
Saving and sharing
Choose Save to keep your changes. Everyone in the team can read and edit these items. They use explicit saves and refreshes, rather than live simultaneous editing. If a teammate saves first, your save is blocked so you can copy your changes and reload the latest version. Deleting a whiteboard, deal, note or sheet is permanent after confirmation; these items do not use the task bin.
Keep the work moving
Press and drag anywhere on a card to move it within or between columns. Click and release a card to open it. Dragging suppresses opening until the next click. The six-dot grip also supports keyboard dragging. On a phone, hold a card to drag it or tap to open it. Swipe the board to see each column. You can also open a task and change its Column field directly.
Tickets support a description, a Definition of Done, one assignee, a priority, and a due date. Search, My tasks, and High priority help narrow the board. Dragging is available while filters are active; the task editor also lets you change a card’s column.
Team owners can choose Configure lanes to rename, colour, reorder, add or remove columns. Mark lanes that count as completed to update the progress total and stop due-date reminders. Each board supports up to 12 lanes. Removing a lane moves its tasks, including those in the bin, to the first remaining lane.
The shared board refreshes every 15 seconds while you’re viewing it. If someone edits a task while you have it open, a version check prevents you from overwriting their changes. Close and reopen the task to get the latest version.
A second layer of security
Go to Settings → Security to enable MFA. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app, then enter its six-digit code. After setup, future sign-ins require that code before you can access team data.
Add a second authenticator as a backup. Supabase does not issue recovery codes for this TOTP flow. If you lose every factor, the instance operator must verify your identity and remove the factor using Supabase’s administrative recovery procedure.
A little heads-up
The notification bell shows assignments from teammates and reminders for due or overdue tasks. Email preferences live in Settings → Card events. You can turn assignment and due emails off independently.
Open the cog beside the board title for Access, Card events and Lane events. Access manages members, invitations and account security. Lane events also lets you opt into in-app notifications or emails when teammates move cards between lanes or change lane configuration. These preferences apply across your workspaces; your own changes do not notify you. Lane notifications are off by default.
Email delivery depends on the instance operator’s SendGrid setup. Assignments are queued when they happen. Due reminders are scheduled daily, once per due date. Invitation links can also be copied and shared directly.
A second chance for deleted tasks
Moving a task to the bin hides it from active work. Open Bin to restore it within 30 days. It returns to its original board and column, or the first remaining lane if that column was removed. After 30 days it can no longer be restored, and daily maintenance permanently removes it from the live database.
Connect your other tools
Team owners can open Settings → Card events or Lane events to add a public HTTPS endpoint and choose activities such as task creation, edits, moves, completion, deletion, restoration and lane changes. Copy the signing secret when you save and use it to verify requests at your endpoint. Send a test, then refresh deliveries to see its result.
You can edit, pause or remove a webhook. Pausing cancels pending deliveries; resuming sends future events. Requests retry up to five times and may arrive more than once, so your receiver should deduplicate event IDs. Daily retries depend on the instance’s maintenance schedule. Demo settings stay on your device and do not send requests.
Connect your assistant
Choose Connect AI from the board toolbar (or Connect your AI under the sidebar logo), name a token, and copy it once. Tokens are scoped to the current team, expire after 90 days, and can be revoked anytime. Treat them like passwords.
Use a client that supports Streamable HTTP with a custom Authorization header. Replace the URL with this instance’s address and keep the token in your client’s secret storage. The endpoint is /api/mcp.

"lanelet": {
"url": "https://lanelet.com/api/mcp",

}

}Tools: list_boards, list_tickets, create_ticket, edit_ticket, delete_ticket, and restore_ticket. OAuth discovery and automatic login are not included. Configure the token manually. Your assistant can discover custom lanes through list_boards.
Running your own little instance
Lanelet uses Next.js, Tailwind, Supabase Postgres and authentication, Vercel Analytics, and optional SendGrid email. The repository includes a complete deployment guide, a database migration, an environment variable template, and a Cloudflare provisioning script.
- Copy
.env.exampleto.env.localand runnpm install, thennpm run dev. - Create a Supabase project and apply the SQL files in
supabase/migrationsin filename order . - Set the public Supabase URL and publishable key, plus the server-only service role key.
- Follow
docs/DEPLOYMENT.mdfor email, Vercel, scheduled maintenance, domain setup, and Cloudflare.
Without credentials, the public site and demo still run. Supabase has a free tier with TOTP MFA. Vercel Hobby has use restrictions and limits; SendGrid’s new-account free offer is a time-limited trial. Check the repository’s cost guide before launching.
